Internet network builder CityFibre has opened a base in Eastbourne, taking a large office on the top floor of Pacific House on our Sovereign Harbour Innovation Park.

The company’s new office will support its £26 million ‘Gigabit Eastbourne’ project to bring 1,000 Mbps digital connections to residents and business across the town.

The Eastbourne full fibre network is designed to boost local business productivity, deliver millions in economic benefits for the town and provide a platform for a new generation of ‘smart city’ applications and the roll-out of 5G mobile services.

The project is an important part of CityFibre’s broader programme to expand its full fibre network to meet post-pandemic demand nationwide, connecting 8 million homes and businesses through a £4 billion investment programme. Full fibre broadband is currently available to fewer than 16% of premises in the UK and offers a far faster and more reliable service.

The company wanted to be close to the network it is building in Eastbourne, so it evaluated a range of premises in the area for its 8-strong Eastbourne team (some pictured here).

Will Lucas, City Build Manager, explains:

“We’re sparking a digital revolution by bringing gigabit-speed internet to families and businesses across Eastbourne. In doing this, we wanted to be an integral part of the community, so it was essential we found local offices of the right quality with scope to expand.

“Pacific House gives us exactly that. It puts our Eastbourne team close to the action so they can keep local people fully informed of our works and aware of what our full fibre network will bring. We’re so pleased with our new premises, and our team are looking forward to getting in as lockdown restrictions ease to enjoy all the available amenities.”

About Pacific House:  Pacific House is our contemporary, three-floor business centre. It is largely occupied but has a small number of offices available for small and medium companies.

The low-energy building incorporates a light-filled atrium, conference facilities and break-out areas for informal meetings.

In addition to Pacific House, our Sovereign Harbour Innovation Park has sites which can accommodate further premises up to 80,000 sq ft. Companies can commission us to develop bespoke freehold or leasehold properties for them or can buy serviced sites to create their own.

The Innovation Park is designed to provide an economic boost to the area by providing high-quality premises and sites on previously disused land. It is three miles from Eastbourne town centre and five minutes’ walk to the cafes, restaurants and boutiques of Sovereign Harbour’s marina and retail park.
